What to expect
Mt. Zion United Methodist church has open communion. This means that all are welcome to participate at Christ’s table. There are no age or church membership requirements as we want everyone to feel welcome to share the love of Jesus Christ and receive this blessing. When you check in at our welcome center, you will be mugged… that is, we will gift you with a lovely ceramic coffee mug with an information brochure, pen, and coffee just to say thanks for dropping in and worshipping with us! What we won’t do is make you stand up and introduce yourself, or embarrass you like that. Our casual service features familiar hymns and contemporary praise band music. We welcome families, and children’s church is available during worship, as well as a well-staffed nursery. We do not have a dress code at church and hope you will feel comfortable during your visit. You will get a warm welcome and a smile because we are glad you are here!
Mt. Zion United Methodist Church is a caring congregation located in Mt. Zion, Illinois (pop. 5400) on the southeast side of Decatur, Illinois. Members come from urban, suburban, and rural locations in the area. We are young and older, traditional and contemporary, new Christians and mature believers. As faithful United Methodists, we are nurturing and equipping our congregation to know the love of Jesus Christ. To enable this, there are weekly opportunities for worship, Bible study and fellowship. In addition to nurturing our own children, youth, and adults, we have a focus on mission outreach to our community as well as more distant areas of need.
