Expectations

Welcome!

Anyone may attend our church services and our open communion. Inside the church sanctuary are these words: “Loving God, Loving Others, Sharing Christ.”

When you first arrive you will be greeted at the door as you enter, be recognized as a guest by receiving a Welcome folder from a member of our hospitality committee. Inside, is quick to read information (to be read later) and a program for Sunday’s service. Enter the sanctuary and sit anywhere. There are no assigned seats!

Our casual service features familiar hymns and contemporary praise band music along with specially prepared music sung by the choir. We welcome families and children’s church is available during worship, as well as a well-staffed nursery. We do not have a dress code at church and hope you feel comfortable during your visit. You will get a warm welcome and a smile because we are glad you are here!

We are a caring congregation located in Mt. Zion, Illinois (population 5,400) on the southeast side of Decatur, Illinois. Members come from urban, suburban and rural locations in the area. We are young and older, traditional and contemporary, new Christians and mature believers. As faithful United Methodists, we are nurturing and equipping our congregation to know the love of Jesus Christ. To enable this, there are weekly opportunities for worship, Bible study and fellowship.

In addition to nurturing our own children, youth and adults, we have a focus on mission outreach to our community as well as more distant areas of need.
