Reverend Ted A. Hartley began his ministry at Mt. Zion UMC in July 2013. Pastor Ted A., as he is called, has been a pastor for 25 years. He has been involved in church work in Europe, Zimbabwe, Russia, and Israel and is planning a trip to China in the near future. Pastor Ted A. attended Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL, and Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO) for his Seminary training. Before becoming a pastor, Pastor Ted A. was an educator in public schools and community colleges. Pastor Ted A. loves golf and the fine arts, his son Chris and two grandchildren who reside in East Peoria.
Brandon Lane a native of Mt. Zion was always involved with church activities as a young child. He now serves as the Music Director at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church while attending Millikin University and studying Music Education. As a student, he is Vice President of the University Choir, Artistic Director of Physical Graffiti and member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, MAfME and One Voice. Brandon is also the Music Director for Theatre 7 on some productions.
Sandy is from Bethany and retired with 58 years of experience in the nursing field. She started in surgery and managed the ER at DMH, worked in family practice offices and was an occupational health nurse at Caterpillar. Sandy is certified as a parish nurse since 1997. She’s been asked what was her favorite job and she says; “They all were! I loved my patients therefore the various jobs. I became known as a very strong patient advocate – no matter who was in my way!” She is an active member of the Nurse Associations, DMH School of Nursing Alumni Association and Occupational Health Nurses, Regional, State and National levels.
